The US State Department confirmed that it is reviewing the suggestion and denied reports of drafting travel ban lists.

No new travel ban Lists:

Reports from renowned media outlets were issued about the US imposing travel restrictions on some countries. However, the US denied all these speculations and nullified the apparent list of banned countries.

The State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce confirmed that the Trump administration is reviewing visa policies. This review is part of a broader security assessment ordered by the president on January 20

“Ms Bruce denied claims that Afghanistan is on the list for a full visa suspension. She, however, stated, “What people have been talking about is not something official or in effect.”

Security review for visa policies:

The US is reviewing its visa policies to protect the country from external threats. Ms. Bruce explained that the review follows the president’s executive order. Reports claimed the US was considering new travel restrictions similar to those from Trump’s previous term. These reports mentioned possible travel bans on Afghanis and visa restrictions for Pakistanis. The reports also referenced a list of 43 countries labelled as security risks.

Concerns over Afghan resettlement:

The US review of visa policies is disturbing Afghan refugees. Many are waiting for resettlement in Pakistan, Qatar, and other countries. Trump’s executive order in January suspended refugee programs for at least three months, affecting many Afghans, even those with approved cases. The delay has left thousands in uncertainty.

Risks for Afghan refugees in Pakistan:

Advocacy groups fear US policy changes may further delay resettlement. Many Afghans in Pakistan now face deportation. The Pakistani government has set a March 31 deadline for their return. An agreement allowing Albania to temporarily host Afghan refugees is also set to expire in March. Without alternative solutions, thousands of Afghans may find themselves stranded.
