Visa bans and suspensions under review:

The Trump administration is considering a Visa ban on several countries, including Pakistan. If the Pakistani government does not address security concerns within 60 days, the country could be restricted from entering the US. Sources familiar with the matter and an internal memo obtained by Reuters confirm this development.

Countries affected by the proposed ban:

The memo categorises 41 countries into three groups based on the severity of restrictions. Ten countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Cuba, and North Korea, could face a complete ban on US visa issuance. Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, and South Sudan may face restrictions on tourist, student, and immigrant visas, with some exceptions. A third group of 26 countries, including Belarus, Pakistan, and Turkmenistan, may experience partial suspensions. The suspension remains if they do not resolve security concerns within 60 days.

Increased security screening:

On January 20, Trump demanded an order to check foreign security checks entering the US. His only motive is to prevent any threat from entering the country. Top government officials must submit a list of countries that fail to meet security screening standards by March 21. Nations on this list may face full or partial visa suspensions.

Trump’s immigration crackdown:

Trump is putting much effort into US immigration policies. He, however, vowed to ban countries like Syria, Gaza, Libya and Somalia. The US State Department has not yet commented on this proposed policy. Further developments will determine if the restrictions become official.
