Tamim Iqbal Announces Retirement from International Cricket
After playing (387) games for the national team and reaching more than (15,000) runs in all formats, previous Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal declared that he was retiring from international cricket.
“I haven’t played international cricket in a while. That gap won’t change. I’ve finished my international cricket career. This is something I’ve been considering for a while,” Tamim Iqbal said on his official Facebook page.
The former captain of Bangladesh stated, “Now that an important tournament such as the Champions Trophy is coming up, I wouldn’t like to be the focus of everyone’s attention, which might result in the team losing their focus,” with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 hosted by Pakistan quickly approaching. “I obviously didn’t want this to happen again”.
Further he said “I was respectfully requested to rejoin the team by Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto. Additionally, there were talks with the selecting committee. I am thankful to them for continuing to think about me in the team. But I have paid attention to my own judgment”.
