PTI Forms Committee To Review KP Mines And Minerals Bill 2025

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders strive to protect the rights of the locals and have formed a committee to rethink KP’s Mines and Mineral Bill 2025.
PTI’s bold step amid rising controversy:
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chapter of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has taken a powerful step to protect public interest. PTI has set up a special committee of parliamentarians to deeply review the Mines and Minerals Bill 2025. The move shows that PTI is not turning a blind eye to the public’s voice. Instead, it is listening, reflecting, and taking responsibility to ensure that the proposed legislation truly benefits the people of KP.
Committee’s mission:
The committee consists of three members. PTI’s provincial general secretary, Ali Asghar Khan, is leading the committee. The other members are Dr. Amjad Ali Khan from Swat and Arbab Sher Ali Khan from Peshawar. These are experienced parliamentarians who understand the pulse of the people. In an official statement, the committee’s mission is unveiled. The committee aims to examine the bill, review public feedback, and suggest important changes to safeguard the rights of the people.

Putting people first:
The committee’s lead said the bill must be aligned with the interests of the people living in mining areas. He reiterated, “The locals must have a clear and fair share in the profits and benefits of the mining sector.” The committee plans to recommend new clauses to protect the rights of local communities.
Imran Khan’s approval is a key:
The PTI members said that Imran Khan’s consent is very important in making decisions. Mr. Asghar said, “Our report will be shared with him, and we’ll proceed in light of his directions.” It shows PTI’s commitment to democratic decision-making.
Transparent process:
The newly formed committee is working according to the law. In this regard, it will also consult legal experts, community leaders, and technical specialists. The committee aims to eliminate confusion, close legal gaps, and bring clarity and transparency to every section of the legislation.
Assembly delayed:
PTI members in the KP Assembly boycotted a government briefing on the bill earlier this week. They demanded that Imran Khan’s approval be obtained before any version of the law was accepted. This rebellion from within shows the level of unease surrounding the bill. In response, the KP Assembly speaker delayed the session to April 23.
