Propaganda On Social Media IG Islamabad Notifies 11 Defendants
On Tuesday 24th of December 2024, according to reports cited by the news agency, (11) people were given notices by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Islamabad for possibly using social media to propagate fake information in an attempt to incite “unrest” in Pakistan.
Sources claim that on the 24th of December, (Sabghatullah Virk, Muhammad Arshad, Atta-ur-Rehman, Azhar Mashwani, Uroosa Nadeem Shah, Muhammad Ali Malik, Shahzaib Virk, and Musa Virk) were called in by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT).
Notices Received
According to reports, (Muhammad Noman Afzal, Taqweem Siddique, and Iqram Kathana) have all received notices. The goals and motivations underlying the actions of the accused, as well as their connections, are being thoroughly investigated by the JIT.
Depending on sources, more suspects are being found, and appropriate legal action is being taken. According to reports, the team has strong evidence to support the charges made against the accused.
Seven more people were arrested on the 6th of December for apparently spreading misleading stories and engaging in anti-state propaganda on social media platforms. The individuals in question, identified as (Muhammad Sohail, Muhammad Junaid, Sheikh Muhammad Ehsan, and others), were allegedly using X (formerly Twitter) and WhatsApp to spread propaganda.
Authorities confirmed that efforts were being made to capture the suspects, which comes after (12) people were charged the day before, the identities of whom were also confirmed, based on sources.
