On Tuesday 24th of December 2024 according to a study by emergency services, there have been around (9,000) traffic accidents in Karachi so far in 2024.
Nearly (9,000) traffic incidents in Karachi resulted in up to (771) citizen deaths and (8,174) injuries, according to rescue services.
Karachi had (94) fatalities and (734) injuries from traffic incidents in January, (57) fatalities and (720) injuries in February, (49) fatalities and (521) injuries in March, and (64) fatalities and (490) injuries in April.
In addition, the port city recorded (48) fatalities and (464) injuries in May, compared to (73) fatalities and (649) injuries in June.
Whereas, there were (35) Karachiites killed and (627) wounded in July. In accordance with the rescue services, there were (45) fatalities and (521) injuries in August, (70) fatalities and (781) injuries in September, and (66) fatalities and (980) injuries in October 2024.
In November, there were (90) fatalities and (989) injuries in Karachi; thus far in December, there have been (80) fatalities and (700) injuries in Karachi traffic incidents.
According to the research, there were an average of (25) accidents per day, which resulted in the deaths of two to three individuals every day.
Approximately (1,400) people died and nearly (18,000) were injured in Karachi traffic accidents in 2023.
Overspeeding and riding a motorcycle without a helmet continued to be the leading causes of fatalities and injuries in traffic accidents throughout the current year of 2023, according to information from rescue sources.
According to the research, more than 1,400 residents died and over 18,000 were injured in traffic accidents this year, with the majority of those injured being disabled.
