India To Prepare For Possible Retaliation After Cross-Border Strikes

After Pakistan retaliates against the Indian assault, India is on high alert.
Rising tensions trigger nationwide preparedness:
On Wednesday, the Indian government called out an emergency meeting to ensure that the nation is ready for any possible response from Pakistan. The Indian Express reported that Home Minister Amit Shah led a video conference with top leaders from various states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Bengal, and Sikkim. The focus: full-scale preparedness for any emergency.
Emergency measures rolled out across States:
Home Minister Shah instructed to ensure that the services, including fire brigade and hospital services, should be ready. Moreover, there should be no delay in the supply of all essential goods. Shah stressed high alert and said, “Every state must take steps to prepare.”

Fighting Fear and Fake News
Shah asked to observe social media to avoid the spread of false information. Both central and state agencies were directed to work together to monitor and shut down harmful narratives. He said, “Strict watch on false propaganda is crucial. We must stop fear from spreading among the public.”
Armed forces and civilians on standby:
The meeting also discussed mobilising other response units. Shah told states to keep the disaster response teams, civil defence, Home Guards, and National Cadet Corps (NCC) on high alert. He stressed the need to involve citizens and NGOs in emergency plans to strengthen community support and coordination.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, including the Union Home Secretary, Intelligence Bureau Director, and chiefs of major paramilitary forces like the Border Security Force (BSF) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), were also present during the meeting.
Border security beefed up:
A key focus of the review was India’s border security. Officers from paramilitary forces were instructed to reinforce key outposts, especially along routes that might be used for infiltration. One official mentioned that forces were asked to plug all gaps to prevent unauthorised movement across borders. The official said, “Leave for many officers has been cancelled. They’ve been called back to duty to ensure that our defences are fully active.”
Coordinated national response underway:
After a cowardly assault on Pakistan, the Indian government has been preparing the country to handle the aftermath of Pakistan. The tension within the Indian military can be seen. The Indian government now wants to step back from what it has sowed. That is why it is now planning to avoid further escalation. The security within India has been tightened. Whether it’s securing borders, ensuring hospitals are fully functional, or stopping panic from spreading through misinformation, every step is being taken to protect the country and its people.
