  • The political leaders of both sides, the government and PTI, were first called on December 23 to discuss their mutual concerns on the May 9 riots and the November 26 crackdown.
  • The National Assembly again called them on January 2 to discuss the matters extensively.

A huge tension was hovering between the PTI and the government regarding various crucial matters. One of those crucial matters was the incident of May 9, when PTI was publicly announced as a traitor to the country.

The May 9 incident defamed the PTI badly as the massive property or the honour of Pakistan was damaged by the PTI political representatives and the PTI followers. The government and the army did not allow the PTI to protest at that time, but the leaders stuck to what they said and decided to march on May 9

Resultantly, the May 9 protest became the cause of the defaming of Pakistan globally. The Pakistan Army, however, took significant steps to protect Pakistan’s honour and started capturing the culprits involved in this heinous crime. Still, the army is in action and arresting the culprits.

Moreover, the culprits are getting punishments of imprisonment of 5 to 10 years. The PTI sticks to the stance that they are not responsible for the overall riots, but the government suspects them for this tragedy.

To come to a unanimous conclusion favourable for both parties, the National Assembly has called out the members of PTI and the government. In the first meeting, both parties seemed happy as the negotiations between them were positive. That is why the National Assembly speaker called them again.

It is scheduled that the meeting will take place at Parliament house at 11:00. It is also expected that PTI leaders will present their 2 crucial points in writing in front of the government leaders.

According to the resources, it is believed that the PTI leaders will put forward their appeals regarding the formation of the Judicial Commission to formulate a commission that will address the May 9 riots and November 26 crackdown on PTI in the capital city of Pakistan. PTI wants a fair investigation. That is why they have asked for the formulation of a commission away from any political agenda to bring reality to the front of all.

PTI will also demand the release of their leader, Imran Khan. In the December 23rd meeting, people who represented the PTI stance were Qaiser, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, SIC Chairman, and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Majlis Wahdat-e- Muslimeen leader.

There were 9 members from the government’s side, including Ishaq Dar, Parvez Ashraf, Rana Sanaullah, Irfan Siddiqui, Naveed Qamar, Aleem Khan, Salik Hussain, Sardar Khalid Magsi, and Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. Both parties positively end the previous discussion.

The National Assembly speaker praised the unanimous efforts by both parties and said that this discussion will be helpful in stabilising Pakistan’s politics and ending challenges with significant outcomes.

Now, the National Assembly has called them on January 2 to resume the discussions on a positive note so that the country will prosper.
