Retired Major General Hafeezur Rehman, the chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), expressed the expectation that many applications would be submitted for the registration of a VPN (virtual private network).

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) chairman repeated the authority’s position on service provider registration while speaking at the Senate Standing on (Information and Technology) meeting.

“We decided to take a stance on the virtual private network ban issue in Pakistan, and I disagreed with the ban of VPNs,” he continued.

Sooth Registration Procedure

According to the PTA chairman, (2) internet service providers have already submitted their license applications since the VPN service provider registration period opened on the 19th of December.

International models should be taken into consideration for VPN registration, Retired Major General Hafeezur Rehman stated at a meeting with the Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA). To guarantee a smooth registration procedure, the PTA has been consulting with all relevant parties.
