Gilgit-Baltistan was included in CNN Travel’s list of the best (25) places to travel in 2025. Adventurers and lovers of nature will find paradise in this breathtaking area of the Karakoram Mountains.

Majestic Valley

In its article “Where to go in 2025: The best places to visit,” CNN Travel listed (25) sites that are especially worth seeing in 2025.

With its breathtaking mountain scenery, Pakistan was a popular destination for adventure travelers in the 1970s, serving as a major stop on the “Hippie Trail,” a path connecting Europe and South Asia. “That put an end to decades of political instability, but those majestic peaks haven’t disappeared,” CNN Travel stated.

“The Gilgit-Baltistan zone in the Karokoram Mountains has more appealing peaks than a lemon meringue pie,” the story notes, “but it’s not the most simple region to get flight schedules can be untrustworthy, roads may be closed off seasonally.”

Furthermore (5) of the (14) 8000-peaks that are acknowledged as the highest in the world are located there, the US broadcaster added. In terms of facilities and tourism, trekking in this area makes the Himalayas seem like a walk in Central Park. This also involves (K2), the 2nd-tallest peak in the world but the most dangerous and demanding.

This is another location where trekking alone is prohibited, as Nepal restricted it nationwide last year. However, it is now reachable through tours arranged by respectable international tour companies that provide a (10) day, fully guided journey through the area known as “Little Tibet” for around ($3,000), according to CNN.

Whereas (Almaty in Kazakhstan, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands of India, Bolivia, Germany’s Chemnitz, Rabat in Morocco, Vancouver Island in Canada, the Kaçkar Mountains in Turkiye, the footpaths of England, Eswatani, and the province of Mpumalanga in South Africa) are also on CNN’s 2025 list.
