US Rights Group Calls For End To Trump’s Unfair Immigration Campaign - AAMNEWSHUB.COM

The US Rights group highlighted that the Trump administration is being unfair with the deportation of people from different countries, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Venezuela.

The US rights group stood against Trump’s administration:

After taking the oath, Trump first initiated the campaign of deportation of illegal immigrants from the USA. The US civil rights group came forward and said that Trump’s acts should not be cherished. Rather, such acts should be condemned.

The civil rights group highlighted that 10 migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Venezuela are seeking to transfer to a naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The group informed that these migrants face severe conditions while being deported and many of them attempted suicide. These migrants are making suicidal attempts due to the pressure and torture imposed on them by Trump’s administration.

The civil rights group, however, said that the transfer of the migrants is against the US immigration law. The transfer is against the US immigration policies. Trump’s immigration policies are only meant to threaten people without any rationale. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) said that 10 people were threatened to transfer to Guantanamo Bay. These 10 detainees are from Pakistan and three other countries.

DHS defends detention policy:

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) refuted the ACLU’s legal challenge and declared it baseless. DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin stated that the agency would collaborate with the Justice Department to fight the lawsuit.

Trump’s deportation crackdown:

Former President Donald Trump had pledged to deport a record number of undocumented immigrants. Trump’s administration started sending migrants to a detention camp at Guantanamo Bay in early February. This facility, known for holding terrorism suspects, became a new site for migrant detention.

For decades, the U.S. had detained Cuban and Haitian migrants intercepted at sea at Guantanamo. However, the American Civil Liberties Group claimed that the Trump administration became the first to transfer migrants from the U.S. mainland to the naval base.

Guantanamo holds non-criminal migrants:

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem defended the move. She claimed that only the worst of the worst were sent to Guantanamo. However, DHS records showed that about a third of the 177 Venezuelans initially detained had no criminal history.

The ACLU lawsuit revealed disturbing details about conditions at Guantanamo. Detainees were allegedly confined in windowless rooms for 23 hours a day. In addition, detainees were also restricted from talking with their families. They faced threats and extreme isolation and were also strapped to chairs. The complaint also mentioned multiple suicide attempts due to the harsh treatment.

Court blocks transfers but deportations continue:

In mid-February, a federal judge halted the transfer of several Venezuelan migrants to Guantanamo. However, instead of keeping them in the U.S., authorities deported them to Venezuela. The lawsuit has intensified the debate over immigration policies and human rights violations at U.S. detention centers. The case now awaits further legal proceedings.
