According to Trump, NATO expansion was the main reason for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

US influence over Ukraine’s security:

Trump highlighted that the US military presence in Ukraine would serve as an indirect security measure. He stated that when we enter a land, no one has the potential or valor to mess with our people. He, however, rejected any formal guarantees and emphasized that Europe should take responsibility. 

US sides with Russia at the United Nations:

The United Nations passed a resolution in which it asked for an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine. The United States backed a United Nations resolution. Trump claimed that his diplomacy had changed Putin’s stance on Ukraine. He suggested that if he had not been elected, Russia would have continued its invasion of Ukraine.

Avoiding the China-Taiwan issue:

When Trump asked about China potentially taking control of Taiwan by force, he declined to comment. He emphasized his desire for good relations with China despite his administration imposing tariffs on Chinese goods.

Massive Budget cuts and Government layoffs:

Trump’s administration unveiled a plan to cut $1 trillion from the $6.7 trillion US budget. The cuts exclude health and retirement benefits. More than 20,000 government workers have already lost their jobs. Federal agencies are preparing for further layoffs.
