Trump gave the deadline of March 21 to the federal agencies to make the assessing procedures transparent and on the implementation of visa restrictions. However, there was no official statement leaked even after the deadline passed. The State Department later confirmed that there is no new timeline for the policy’s implementation.

On March 21, she dismissed speculation about an immediate announcement. Colour-coded lists for travel restrictions:

According to the reports, it is said that the Trump administration is now focusing on the classification of countries based on their visa screening procedures. The classification of countries falls under three color categories: red, orange, and yellow.

The countries that fall under the red category have to face strict restrictions, while the orange-listed countries have to undergo vetting procedures, like in-person interviews. However, yellow-listed countries may face fewer restrictions, but they are listed because of some concerns.

Internal disagreements and legal challenges:

Trump has always imposed strict immigration policies during his tenure. In his first term, his travel ban was challenged but soon upheld by the apex court. This time, the travel ban is facing several internal and legal challenges. That is why the implementation of the proposed plan got delayed.

Legal challenges to travel restrictions:

Whenever Trump proposed travel bans, he faced challenges in their implementation. His latest travel ban is getting delayed so as to avoid any immediate legal challenges. Still, there are many critics, like lawmakers and civil rights groups, who stand against these proposed travel restrictions. They claim that such restrictions could only create differences and discrimination based on nationality. These restrictions will not enhance the US’s security concerns.

Lawmakers oppose travel ban:

The US lawyers are not supporting Trump’s travel ban policy. However, they argued that these policies are fatal to the country’s prosperity. That is why they are asking to halt such policies for the sake of the country’s progress globally.

Opposition from civil rights groups:

Civil rights groups like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) are also not in favor of Trump’s travel ban policies. These civil rights groups criticized these policies. They hold a strong stance that with these policies, Trump is only promoting discrimination and calling these policies inadequate measures to make America safer.
