Rail traffic was suspended and major cancellations were caused when the Bahauddin Zakariya Express train, which was going from (Karachi to Multan), derailed close to Odero Lal station in Matiari, according to sources.

Railway reports claim that the disaster happened when a number of the train’s bogies slipped off the track, obstructing both the upper and lower main lines. Consequently, many trains had to be stopped at different stops.

Among the passengers who have suffered greatly as a result of the event are women, children, and elderly people who are experiencing delays due to the bad winter weather.

Train Schedule Disturbed

In addition the Green Line was delayed by three hours at Hyderabad Station, while the Sir Syed Express was delayed by (4) hours at Detha Railway Station, and the Khyber Mail was delayed by (4) hours at Kotri Railway Station.

On the other side the Farid Express is (5) hours late at Allah Dino Sand Station on its way to Multan. At Palari Halt Station, the Millat Express is (8) hours late, while at Shahdadpur Station, the Shalimar Express is (5) hours late.

Officials from Pakistan Railways are looking into what caused the incident. Note that on the 16th of December the Rahman Baba Express, which was bound for Peshawar, crashed at the Drig Road station in Karachi, marking the 2nd derailment occurrence in 2-weeks.

Whereas (3) bogies of the Rahman Baba Express left the track as a result of the derailment, which was caused by the coupling that connected the bogies breaking. As a result, domestic travel’s primary line was shut down.
