Russia Launches Major Attack On Kyiv In Largest Strike Since Invasion

On Tuesday, Ukraine’s Interior Ministry confirmed that Russia attacked Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, resulting in 14 casualties and 44 injuries.
Relentless bombardment shocks the capital:
The Ukrainian Interior Ministry made a statement after the Russian attack on Kyiv. The Interior Ministry said, “Today, the enemy spared neither drones or missiles.” The Interior Ministry remarked that since February 2022, today’s attack has been one of the largest attacks.
The attack targeted 27 different locations in and around Kyiv. It also damaged residential buildings, educational institutions, and critical infrastructure.

Eyewitnesses described a terrifying scene. Reuters reporters on the ground said drones swarmed above the city while missiles streaked across the sky. The air raid sirens wailed for over seven continuous hours, keeping the entire city in a state of anxiety and fear.
Civilian casualties and tragic losses:
There is a massive loss of human lives on both sides of the Israel-Iran conflict. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed the death of a man who had been in a dwelling across from a medical assistance site during the attack. Emergency workers responded quickly, but the injuries were too severe. Resultantly, the civilian lost his life.
In addition, a ballistic missile hit a nine-story residential building in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district. The building was severely damaged. Rescuers worked frantically, combing through the rubble to locate potential survivors. In a statement posted on Telegram, Zelensky stated, “Russia is continuing its war on civilians.”
Attacks beyond Kyiv:
Kyiv was not the only place to get affected by the Russian airstrikes. Odesa, in southern Ukraine, suffered drone strikes. According to local officials, 13 people were injured. In regions outside Kyiv, at least one more person was wounded. These widespread attacks show how Russia continues to target both military and civilian zones in its ongoing campaign.
Russia claims defensive action:
The Russian Defence Ministry issued its report. It claimed that 147 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed over Russian territory. It includes The Moscow region during the night. In recent weeks, drone warfare intensified. However, both sides are not ready for a ceasefire. Instead, they blame each other for escalation.
A war with no end in sight:
A peace talk between Kyiv and Moscow was continued. Unfortunately, the attack coincides with their peace talk. However, there have been minor agreements, such as the exchange of prisoners and the repatriation of soldiers’ remains.
Experts warn that as both nations continue their strikes no one is willing to stop it. Resultantly, the civilians of both sides have to pay for it. The international observers and Ukrainian officials clearly warned that such acts are a violation of humanitarian norms.
A senior Ukrainian official said, “This is not just about military strategy anymore; it’s a brutal assault on everyday life in Ukraine.”
A plea for global attention:
Ukraine’s leadership continues to urge global allies for stronger defense systems and diplomatic support. Ukrainian politicians repeatedly called NATO and EU leaders to pressure Russia to halt its strikes. He said, “More strikes by Russian drones on residential buildings in Kyiv. Russia is continuing its war on civilians.” He urged the global communities to take immediate steps toward holding Russia accountable.
