According to a report, the Punjab School Education Department announced that summer breaks for schools would start on the first of June 2025.

As the temperature in the province starts to increase, Punjabi schools will stay closed starting on the first of June according to an official announcement made here.

Khalid Nazir Wattoo, the secretary of school education, informed reporters that if the temperature continues to climb, the timetable may be changed.

Vacation Started According To Weather Condition

“Vacations may begin a week earlier in the event of an unexpected rise in heat,” he stated, stressing that the decision puts the health of teachers, parents, and kids first because excessive heat might interfere with academic activity.

Secretary of school education Khalid Nazir Wattoo also emphasized the wider implications of climate change, pointing out that Pakistan is feeling them in the form of more frequent natural catastrophes and altered weather patterns.

Due to the entrance of a system of high pressure in the higher atmosphere, the Pakistan Meteorological Department released a heatwave notice yesterday, predicting extremely high temperatures throughout the nation from the 26th of April to the 30th of April.

A considerable increase in daytime temperatures will be expected as the weather system is predicted to form on the 26th of April and cover the majority of the nation by the end of April.

From the 26th of April to the 1st of May daytime highs in the southern regions, such as “Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan”, are expected to stay “5–7 degrees Celsius”  above average. In the meanwhile, temperatures between April 27th and April 30th are predicted to be “4-6 degrees Celsius” above average in regions in the top half of the nation, including “central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan”.

Drink More Water

To avoid heat-related diseases, it is recommended that the general population, particularly women, children, and the elderly, remain hydrated and stay out of bright sunlight during the day.

Farmers should take precautions to protect their cattle and organize their wheat harvesting operations appropriately. The rate of snowmelt may also be accelerated by rising temperatures in the north, especially between the 27th of April and the first of May.

In every area, people are reminded to utilize water responsibly. Additionally, on the last day of April and the first of May “lightning, dust storms, and high winds might endanger trees, power poles, cars, and solar panels”.
