PTI And Opposition Gear Up for Post-Eid Protests Against Government

Shibli Faraz plans a protest after Eid against the government.
PTI joins hands with opposition for nationwide protests:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Senator Shibli Faraz has announced that the party will join the opposition alliances to stage protests against the government after Eid-ul-Fitr. He confirmed that discussions with opposition parties were ongoing and expected to conclude soon while speaking outside a court in Peshawar.
Criticism over the Government’s performance:
Shibli Faraz strongly criticized the government’s one-year tenure, calling it the darkest period in Pakistan’s history. He accused the ruling party of passing critical laws, including the PECA law and the 26th Amendment, by force rather than through democratic means. According to him, the government focused more on spending billions on advertisements than on addressing real issues.

PTI condemns expansion of Federal Cabinet:
Faraz also condemned the expansion of the federal cabinet, claiming it served as a reward for miscreants. He pointed out that while the government continued to add ministers, the country was sinking deeper into debt, and inflation was soaring.
PTI Protest preparations:
Faraz acknowledged that occasional backdoor communications with the government had taken place, but they often failed. He emphasised that PTI was now fully preparing to take to the streets alongside opposition parties after Eid. He reiterated that PTI’s Ali Amin Gandapur was playing a key role in maintaining order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa despite rising security threats.
Court proceedings against PTI leaders:
The Peshawar High Court extended the protective bail for Shibli Faraz and other PTI leaders. During the hearing, their lawyer argued that they were seeking complete case details before taking further legal steps. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) presented its report, but the defence lawyers requested time to review it. The court instructed the petitioners to study the report before the next hearing.
Fazlur Rehman seeks clarity on PTI leadership:
PTI leaders admitted that Maulana Fazlur Rehman was hesitant due to uncertainties over PTI’s leadership structure. Imran Khan is currently in jail, and Maulana sought clarity on who would make key decisions for the opposition alliance. Rehman reportedly asked PTI to confirm whether Imran Khan would be making strategic decisions from prison or if another leader would be given full authority over the alliance. This leadership issue remains a major hurdle in finalizing opposition cooperation.
