Lyari Gangsters Roam Freely, Sparking Security Concerns In The City

Members of Lyari’s infamous gangs took advantage of the opportunity to get away from their positions of power in the Old metropolis quarters and roam in other neighborhoods of the metropolitan area during the month of Ramadan while authorities focused on other areas.
This might be the cause of the notable rise in blackmail cases involving Lyari thieves. A Lyari gang was reportedly demanding money from New Karachi businesses on 4th of March.
At the New Karachi police station, a candy store owner in “Sector 11-D” filed a case on behalf of neighborhood market vendors under many headings, such as threats to kill and blackmail.
Layari Gang Threatening People
He claims that at around “9 p.m.” on Tuesday, (2) armed suspects came into the market on a motorbike and demanded (Rs100,000) in bribery from each store owner. The suspects started shooting when they expressed they couldn’t afford to pay them such large sums.

Although the suspects ran from the scene, Taimoor Ali, a (3-year-old) toddler, was wounded by the gunfire. When police came soon after the event, they found a “9mm handgun bullet casing”.
But the suffering didn’t stop there. The complainant and other businesses got a new round of harassment texts at around “10 p.m.”, this time demanding (Rs 1 million) and warning to murder them if they didn’t pay. Both of them are connected to Lyari’s gangs, according to police confirmation.
Whereas the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) took over the investigation and has begun searching for the suspects.
People Captured And Attacked A Suspected Thief.
During a heist in the Malir neighborhood, a person was shot and killed by suspects riding motorcycles. The person who passed away (35-year-old) Babar, was a father of (3) children who operated an “estate agency office, a swimming pool, and a cold drink distribution company”.
The attackers tried to escape, but after a bloody battle, one of the thieves was captured by the eyewitnesses. Angry, the crowd of people went at the culprit, kicking and punching him and pulling him to the ground until the cops showed up.
The seriously injured suspect was “transported by Shah Latif Town police to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medical attention”. The victim’s relatives still attacked the suspect once again after following the police to the hospital. The robber passed away as a result of torture in public. The murder of (2) individuals by thieves in a (2) day period upset the people of Shah Latif Town. They protested on the National Highway as well.
