Pakistani Doctor and 15 Others Agreeing To Pay ($17.7) Million To Settle An Overbilling Issue In America
Dr. Arjumand, a cardiologist of Pakistani descent, and fifteen other medical professionals have reached a settlement to pay ($17.7) million to resolve the “overbilling” situation in the United States (US).
A ($17.7) million settlement has been reached between (16) cardiologists and the US Department of Justice for their apparent “fraudulent” billing methods, corresponding to an official statement.
Overbilling has also been reported against Dr. Arjumand Hashmi, a Pakistani-American cardiologist. According to the Department of Justice, Dr. Hashmi used deceptive billing techniques to collect millions of dollars.
As part of the settlement, Dr. Arjumand Hashmi agreed to pay ($2.6) million to the Department of Justice. According to Dr. Arjumand’s statement, the problem dates back (12) years, and Medicare overpaid him, which has now been compensated.
The Pakistani doctor stated he is still practicing in the United States and denied the fraud charges. Dr. Hashmi, who lives in Paris, Texas, has also held the office of mayor of the city several times.
