According to a report on Wednesday 16th of April 2025, the Government of Pakistan has increased the tax on petroleum products.

The petroleum duty on gasoline has been raised by “Rs 8.02 per liter”, according to the facts, making the total charge on gasoline “Rs 78.02 per liter”.

High-speed diesel now costs “Rs 77.01 a liter”, an increase of “Rs 7.01 per liter”. The petroleum charge on kerosene oil has gone up by “Rs 7.99 per litre”, bringing the total charge to “Rs18.95 per litre”.

Light diesel oil now carries a petroleum charge of “Rs15.37 per liter, up Rs7.62 per liter”. Whereas High Octane Blending Component (HOBC) taxes have also increased by “Rs 8.02 per litre,”  bringing the total to “Rs 78.02 per litre”.

The Pakistani federal government declared on the previous day that it will maintain the current petroleum product pricing for the upcoming two weeks. A notice was issued stating that for the next fifteen days, the price of fuel will remain at “Rs 254.63 a litre”. Additionally, the cost of high-speed diesel stayed constant at “Rs 258.64 per liter”. Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif made the declaration after declaring that there will be no price cuts for the following two weeks. Rather, he said that uplift projects will be used to transfer the advantages of falling oil costs worldwide to consumers.
