Pakistan Sets EV Charging Tariff At Rs 23.57 Per Unit To Boost Adoption

According to sources, the federal government’s request was accepted and the base rate for electric car charging stations was set at “Rs 23.57 per unit”.
The federal government’s request to lower the base cost of electric car charging stations by “Rs 21.98 per unit” was approved by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) in a recent decision.
Following the outcome, the price per unit was lowered from “Rs 45.55 to Rs 23.57”. In the meantime, an appeal to eliminate the “Rs 24.44” cap on car charging station margins was also agreed.

The NEPRA insisted that the range has been given to the market at the government’s request. It should be mentioned that the federal government had asked NEPRA to lower the charging station fee.
In order to preserve the environment and decrease its dependence on foreign fuel, the Pakistani government is promoting the use of electric vehicles, the Senate was previously told.
During Question Hour, Azam Nazeer Tarar, the Minister of Law, informed the House that 30-electric buses had been brought from China. Modern charging stations have been set up at the Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad, where these buses are currently parked. According to him, these buses are being soft-launched today. In the next “two and a half years”, NADRA centers will be set up in every Union Council, the law minister informed the House.
