Karachi Braces For Heatwave As Temperatures Soar to 41°C

Extreme heat is expected in Karachi today (Monday), with highs of 41°C predicted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Sea breezes will continue to be stopped during the day, and temperatures are predicted to rise as high as 41°C, says the Meteorological Office.
“The weather system will continue to be dominated by hot, dry winds from the northeast and west, making conditions very severe”.
PMD Warned Citizens
Additionally, the PMD has issued a warning that during the heatwave spell, evenings might stay abnormally warm.

Residents of Karachi have been urged to remain hydrated and avoid engaging in activities outside throughout peak periods due to the severe weather.
Apart from the intense heat, the city’s air quality has decreased substantially due to a change in wind patterns. Karachi is currently the3rd most polluted city in the world, in accordance with the Air Quality Index (AQI), “with particulate matter (PM2.5) levels hitting 159 micrograms per cubic meter, which is deemed harmful to human health”.

Over the next 12-hours, most of the country is predicted to have mostly hot and dry weather. Yet, “isolated areas in Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir are expected to see rain, wind, and thunderstorms”.
“It was 16-degrees Celsius in Islamabad, 24-degrees in Lahore, 28-degrees in Karachi, 19 in Peshawar, 12 in Quetta, 10 in Gilgit and Murree, and 15 in Muzaffarabad”.
The Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir weather prediction predicts hot and dry conditions in Jammu and overcast conditions with the possibility of rain and thunderstorms in “Srinagar, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramula”.
