Imran Khan’s Call For Dialogue, Not Power - AAMNEWSHUB.COM

The Chief Minister(CM) of KPK, Ali Ameen Gandapur, claimed that Imran Khan agreed to a dialogue with the government for the sake of the country’s interests, not for his interests.

A nation’s dilemma:

In an address to the joint general house of the Lahore High Court Bar Association and the Lahore Bar Association, Gandapur said Imran Khan is ready to negotiate with the government only for the sake of the nation’s progress. Gandapur said that Imran has no lust for money or power. His willingness to engage in talks is only due to his love for his country, Pakistan. He reiterated, “Imran is not asking for the Prime Minister’s chair. He is asking for a chance to rebuild Pakistan into a proud, independent nation.”

Talks for Pakistan’s sake:

Gandapur is not satisfied or happy with Pakistan’s current position in the global world. He said that the PTI only wants to see a stable Pakistan. That is why PTI’s future negotiations, either with the government or the establishment, would be based on national interest and the stability of the state. Gandapur also said, “Imran Khan is not in prison because he broke the law. He is behind bars because he challenges the system that continues to bring unelected individuals into power through manipulation.”

He also questioned the transparency in the 2024 general elections. He clearly stated that those elections were rigged and the current government is “selected”, not “elected.” He said, “The results are right in front of us. The people’s choice was ignored, and today we’re stuck with leaders who were handpicked rather than elected.”

The price of a broken system:

Gandapur mentioned the reasons for Pakistan’s financial breakdown. He pointed out that Pakistan is now buried under a debt of Rs 76 trillion. He majorly targeted the government for Pakistan’s massive debt. Gandapur lamented that Pakistan was founded in the name of Islam. But the government here worsen Pakistan’s situation. He said, “We claim to be an Islamic republic but we’ve lost our self-respect. We are not free neither politically, nor economically.”

Speaking for the nation, religion, and justice:

Gandapur said that the PTI, under the leadership of Imran Khan, wants to make Pakistan that is in accordance with Islamic laws. He declared, “Imran is the voice of the nation, a voice you have tried to silence with prison bars.” He also said that such voices can no longer be suppressed. In his words, “You may lock up one man, but how will you silence the support of 240 million Pakistanis? If their voice isn’t being heard, then whose interests are really being protected?”

The crackdown on PTI:

Gandapur described how PTI rallies were blocked, their leaders jailed, and even Imran Khan’s wife imprisoned. He recalled last year’s November protest in Islamabad. In that protest, PTI supporters came out in large numbers. The government fired bullets on them. He said, “Fourteen innocent people died, many more were injured and their only crime was supporting democracy.” Gandapur also announced a Rs 50 million grant for the Lahore High Court Bar Association and expressed gratitude to its leadership for the invitation.

Military courts in focus:

Minister of State for Law Barrister Aqeel Malik stated that the government is exploring the possibility of trying Imran Khan in a military court. He said the matter was still under the judiciary. When he was asked about PTI’s talks with the establishment, Malik dismissed the idea. He stated, “There are no ongoing talks. The PTI only pretends to reject the establishment’s role in politics yet they once backed them.”
