In the most recent interview, Afghanistan’s white-ball cricket standout Gulbadin Naib talked honestly about cricket’s biggest rivalry.

Gulbadin Naib welcomed the DP World ILT20 as an important platform for Afghan cricket players to display their skills in an interview with CricTracker.

Naib, who is now playing for the Dubai Capitals in the 2025 season, was instrumental in his team’s playoff qualifying on the second of February when they defeated the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders thanks to a brilliant -25-ball 47- and an important wicket.

Along with expressing his gratitude for playing with cricketing great David Warner, Naib also acknowledged the important lessons he has learned from being in the same locker room as such a successful player.

Gulbadin Naib openly chose Pakistan-Afghanistan as a more intense match than India-Afghanistan when questioned about rivalry intensity, pointing to the energy and enthusiasm among supporters whenever the two teams play each other.

The Afghan all-rounder emphasized the value of playing against elite teams to raise Afghanistan’s cricketing skills, recalling the thrilling environments in -India, Pakistan, and Dubai- everytime Afghanistan takes against these cricketing powerhouses.

Gulbadin Naib recognized the competitive aspect of the Champions Trophy 2025, where Afghanistan is paired with “South Africa, England, and Australia”. Although he had confidence in his team’s skills, he acknowledged that all eight of the participating nations are strong, having qualified through impressive ODI World Cup results.
