The Afghan government banned the construction of windows in residences to protect the honor of women.

Since 2021, due to the new Afghan government’s policies, Afghan women have been blocked from being a part of public gatherings or even in the country’s affairs or at any workplace. Taliban restrict women to be confined within the four walls of the house in order to protect their honor.

Taliban believes that the act of confining women within houses and not allowing them to move freely outside the houses is in accordance with Islamic rules and laws. They believe that while going outside, women should fully cover themselves and veil their voices so that no one can see and listen to them. It, however, saves them from massive damage.

In Western countries, the Taliban’s acts undoubtedly align with “Gender Apartheid,” an act where individuals are treated differently on the basis of their sex or gender. Modern Western countries call it discrimination among individuals and strictly condemn such nonsense rules imposed on women.

In recent laws by the Afghani government, women are strictly prohibited from being involved in activities beyond their household chores. They are forbidden to do acting, singing, banking, or even saying verses of any sort publicly. They are also not allowed to go lonely in public places like parks.

The Taliban government also stopped organizations or companies from using females for their publicity, including their voices as well. The Taliban government adheres to these laws and is confirming that these laws are in accordance with Islamic laws. Moreover, Islamic laws do not deprive men and women of their due rights.

Lately, on Saturday, the Afghan government banned the construction of windows in residential houses in Afghanistan. The Government spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid, told the media that the decision was made so that the honor of women in the country would be protected.

In addition, he said it is permissible to see women doing their household chores from outside. That is why it is necessary to down the curtains so that no neighbor can see the other neighbor. The government also said that the already existing windows should be blocked and there would be no construction of windows in the houses through which outsiders can have easy access to navigate the house’s internal activities.
