In Rawalpindi district, the implementation of the plan to develop educational sectors is still pending. Throughout the year, not a single plan to construct educational sectors reaches to its completion. Some plans were started, and some are even under consideration.

The Rawalpindi College Directorate proposed 14 projects. The total cost of these projects was Rs 2.36 billion. The college directorate appealed to the government to ponder on these projects so that we may provide better educational services to the youth of our region.

These projects basically focus on the upgradation of laboratories and libraries, construction of new colleges, completion of the postgraduate college in Dhok Dalal, restructuring of the already existing colleges and the addition of halls, auditoriums, and computer labs.

All these steps were decided to be taken in order to revolutionise the education system and modernise our youth to be fixed within this fast-paced technologically driven era. The only motive behind restructuring the educational sector is to make our students advanced so they can walk erect with the modern-day world.

Unfortunately, due to the economic crisis, these projects could not be completed. In fact, by that time, the project’s cost had increased up to Rs 1 billion due to the inflation in the country. Now, it is Rs 350 billion.

In Dhok Dalal, the postgraduate college for women was started, but it was not completed. It’s almost 3 years now, but it’s still pending. Overall, all the proposed plans could not reach completion, leading to educational disparities in the region.

Throughout the year, the directorates and the lecturers of the region ask for the development of new colleges or the reinvigoration of the old ones. But all their efforts remained fruitless as there is not a single development this year.

This effortlessness towards the development of the educational sectors forced hundreds of students to halt their studies. Moreover, due to inflation, many students discontinue their education as they can not afford the fees of private colleges. The Professors Lecturers Association appealed to the government to provide at least one educational sector in the region so that their temporary needs could be fulfilled.
