Afghanistan Has Made Pakistan Less Valuable To The US Said By Dr. Maleeha Lodhi - aamnewshub.com

Once supported by its involvement in Afghanistan, Pakistan’s importance to the US is now decreasing, according to Dr. Maleeha Lodhi, the country’s previous ambassador to the US.

As the geopolitical environment has changed, Dr. Lodhi stated in an appearance on the news debate that the United States no longer prioritizes Pakistan.

She clarified that although Afghanistan was a major factor in Pakistan’s significance to the US, Pakistan is no longer a top priority in US foreign policy. Dr. Lodhi emphasized that US interests currently dictate US policy.

Different People Different Ideas

As she considered the political climate, she pointed out that different people in Pakistan had different ideas on when PTI’s problems should be resolved. Some people think that the PTI’s issues should be settled before Donald Trump becomes president, while others think that the current developments are because neither the PTI nor the government stand to benefit by extending the state of affairs.

Dr. Lodhi went on to address the importance of Donald Trump’s upcoming presidency, saying that his remarks and tweets are not legally binding until he officially becomes office. She underlined that any comments made by Trump’s associates are not official declarations; rather, they are personal thoughts.

Regarding military courts, Dr. Lodhi recognized the strong position taken by Western countries, especially the EU (European Union), which has expressed concern that Pakistan’s continued use of military tribunals could put at risk its GSP Plus status.

Don’t Depend Others

She highlighted the significance of resolving problems internally rather than depending on outside influence and said Pakistan should be wary of outside influences.

In closing, Dr. Lodhi voiced worry that such remarks and pressure from other countries harm Pakistan’s reputation and underlined the need for the nation to handle its own problems without outside assistance.

The United States called for equal treatment and respect for human rights on the 24th of December in response to civilian punishments in Pakistani military tribunals. In a post on X (previously Twitter), US State Department official Matthew Miller stated that “the United States is concerned about the punishment of civilians in Pakistan by a military court and advises Pakistani authorities to uphold the right to due process and an equal trial”.
