Virat Kohli Reacts To Retirement Speculations After Champions Trophy Victory

Virat Kohli, the star batsman for India, addressed rumors that he was retiring following Sunday’s 9th of arch Champions Trophy 2025 victory in Dubai.
There were rumors circulating in Indian media that all-rounder “Ravindra Jadeja, India captain Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli” would retire from ODI cricket following the competition.
According to some, the (3) senior Indian players may declare their retirement from the (50-over) format, just like they did from the Twenty20 Internationals following the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli spoke out about the reports after India won the Champions Trophy 2025 final.
The top batsman for India was questioned about his role in the Indian squad and what the team will look like once he retired in a post-match interview.
Kohli stated that team India was in excellent hands, but he did not disclose his retirement plans.
As they say, “it’s only that when you leave, you want to go out of the place in a greater position,” Virat Kohli stated. “I aim to speak to these guys as much as possible, try to give them my experience, how I’ve been able to keep playing for so long, and try to step in wherever I can to help strengthen their games.”
India Prepared Team Play 8 to 10 Years
“That’s what we’re working toward, you know, so that when we’re finished at whatever point, we have a team that’s prepared to take on the world for the next (8 to 10) years, and these players undoubtedly have the potential to do that,” he continued.
Furthermore, after leading his side to win in the Champions Trophy 2025, India skipper Rohit Sharma made no mention of his intention to retire from ODI cricket. Rohit Sharma talked about his daring batting strategy in the “power play” in a post match conversation. “It’s a wonderful feeling to come out here and get the outcome we want. Extremely joyful. (On his approach) I can see it’s not natural. You need the team’s and management’s support when you’re doing anything new. They had me completely covered. I talked to Rahul (Dravid) bhai about this during the ODI World Cup, and he was totally cool with it. Now, Gauti (Gautam Gambhir) bhai is on board,” he further said.
