PM Shehbaz Orders Installation Of Advanced Cargo Scanning System

To combat smuggling in the nation, Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif gave the appropriate authorities instructions on Friday 17th of January 2025 to build international-standard cargo scanning systems in Karachi and other important commercial centers.
At a review meeting on “transit goods and tracking systems”, the prime minister of Pakistan stated, “The outdated methods of (tracking, tracing, and scanning) in international trade centers need to be upgraded with fresh systems that feature modern technology.”
Additionally, he issued orders to guarantee 3rd party verification of the caliber of the organizations offering cargo tracking services.

The Pakistan’s prime minister observed that smuggling had drastically decreased as a result of the tracking system’s development.
He underlined that (US$211 million) worth of sugar exports to Afghanistan were made feasible by actions taken to prevent smuggling.
PM Shehbaz said that an integrated communication infrastructure and better cargo tracking will make Pakistan a hub for transit commerce with other nations in the area. Whereas {Ahad Khan Cheema, the chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Muhammad Aurangzeb, the minister of finance, and other high-ranking government officials} attended the meeting.
