According to sources, which pointed to information given to the National Assembly by the Aviation Ministry, Pakistan foreign Airlines (PIA) has reopened (8) foreign routes in the past (6) months.

Routes from (Islamabad to Paris, Turbat to Sharjah and Al Ain, Gwadar to Muscat, Quetta to Jeddah, Faisalabad to Jeddah and Madinah, and Lahore to Kuwait) are among the routes that have been reactivated.

After nearly {four and a half years and (5) months}, the Islamabad-Paris route was reopened, in accordance with the Aviation Ministry. Boeing-777 aircraft will now operate the trips.

Even (4) months later, the Turbat-Sharjah line was operational again, and (5) months later, the Turbat-Al Ain route was back in service. For flights on these itineraries, “ATR” planes are utilized.

After (13) months, the Gwadar to Muscat route was once again operational, with “ATR” planes handling the trips. In the same vein, after (3 years and 4 months), the Quetta to Jeddah route began operating again, using “ATR” planes. After (3 years and four months), flights between Faisalabad and Jeddah\Faisalabad and Madinah were resumed, using Airbus “A320” aircraft.

Almost (7) months later, the Lahore-Kuwait route was operational again, using Airbus “A320” planes.

According to the Aviation Ministry, the European Union limited the Islamabad-Paris route, and (7) trips were halted because of a lack of aircraft.

Khawaja Asif, the defense minister, stated earlier on the 11th of January that Pakistan PIA plans to start operating direct flights to the UK by the end of February 2025. Khawaja Asif said that PIA will also begin operating flights to (19) European locations, including Milan and Barcelona.

He stated that the airline also plans to launch flights to the US and Canada. According to Asif, these initiatives will raise PIA’s worth and make it more appealing for privatization. “After facing major challenges in recent years, PIA has been working to restore its operations and image,” he added.
