Pakistan Condemns Israeli Strikes On Iran At UN Security Council - AAMNEWSHUB.COM

On Friday, Pakistan attended the emergency session of the United Nations Security Council in which it clearly condemned the Israeli attack on Iran’s military and nuclear bases.

Escalating tensions draw global attention:

Pakistan issued a forceful condemnation of Israel’s military strikes on Iran in an emergency session of the United Nations. Pakistan has highlighted the rising tension over peace in the Middle East. Its envoy warned that the aggression posed a “grave danger and a serious threat” to regional and global peace.

According to Iranian reports, the Israeli airstrikes struck key targets, including the Natanz uranium enrichment facility and the headquarters of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards in Tehran. State media confirmed the deaths of top IRGC commander Hossein Salami and six prominent nuclear scientists.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the action. He stated, “The attacks are the beginning of a prolonged operation to prevent Tehran from building an atomic weapon.”

Pakistan’s firm stance at the United Nations:

Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad called Israel’s actions “unjustified and illegitimate.” He expressed unwavering support for the Muslim brother country, Iran. He stated, “This aggression violates the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Ambassador Asim urged the Security Council to uphold international law and act immediately to stop further escalation. He stressed, “We strongly call for the resolution of the crisis through dialogue and diplomacy.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused Israel of crossing “every red line.” He demanded the international community take action. Countries like Algeria, China, Russia, and Pakistan showed their support for Iran.

UN officials warn against escalation:

UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo stated, “I reaffirm the Secretary-General’s condemnation of any military escalation in the Middle East.” She highlighted that the Israeli strikes coincided with upcoming U.S.-Iran talks, now reportedly cancelled by Iran. DiCarlo urged, “A peaceful resolution through negotiations remains the best means to ensure the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear programme. We must at all costs avoid a growing conflagration which would have enormous global consequences.”

Nuclear security at risk:

Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), stressed that nuclear sites must never be military targets. He warned, “Such attacks have serious implications for nuclear security, nuclear safety and safeguards, as well as regional and international peace and security.”

Grossi offered the IAEA as a neutral platform for dialogue and technical engagement. He added, “We are ready to facilitate transparency and support peaceful resolution of nuclear issues in Iran.”

Pakistan affirms Iran’s rights of self-defence:

Pakistan’s Foreign Office explicitly cited Article 51 of the UN Charter. It affirmed Iran’s right to defend itself against aggression. In a statement, the FO called out the world and said, “Iran has the right to self-defence under Article 51 to hold the aggressor accountable.”

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, in a phone call with his Iranian counterpart, strongly condemned the Israeli strikes and extended condolences for the loss of lives. He reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to peace and solidarity with Iran.
