According to details, a group of postgraduate students from NED University succeeded in creating a driverless electric vehicle, which they believe is going to receive significant attention in Pakistan.

The vehicle can autonomously reach any designated location, a technology that has already been introduced internationally. The students pointed out the difficulties of Pakistani roads, stressing that their vehicle is made to detect and react appropriately to potholes and uneven surfaces.

Their faculty supervisor said that this technology has huge potential beyond local transportation, extending to travel between cities.He added that the self-driving technology could be incorporated into “coaches, buses, and heavy vehicles”, making it a game-changing invention for Pakistan’s transportation industry.

At a cost of about (Rs3.5 million), students at the NED University of Engineering & Technology also created Pakistan’s 2nd Formula Electric Sports vehicle in 2021.

One of the students while discussing the development stated that really, it was a desire of his superiors of the engineering department to construct Pakistan’s 2nd Formula Electric Sports vehicle, 1st one was built by NUST, he remarked. The automobile can attain a highest speed of “120km/h” and its average speed is roughly “60 to 70km/h”. Around (Rs3.5 million) was spent on the car’s development, and they encountered issues with battery backup and motors while completing it.
