Earlier to the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, Australia suffered yet another significant setback as top bowler Mitchell Starc left from the competition for personal reasons.

An already injury faced Australian team for the 2025 Champions Trophy is further weakened by Mitchell Starc’s unavailability. In addition to the unannounced “retirement of Marcus Stoinis a few weeks ago, all-rounder Mitch Marsh (back), captain Pat Cummins (ankle), and Josh Hazlewood (hip)” have been absent.

Australia Team Face Loss

According to details “Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Spencer Johnson, and Tanveer Sangha” are the (5) new players who have been picked up for the 8th team event in response. Steve Smith will captain the team during the 2025 Champions Trophy as Cummins is unable to do so.

The (3) top pacers that helped Australia win the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup “Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood” will not be present for the competition.

Meanwhile “Steve Smith (c), Sean Abbott, Alex Carey, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Aaron Hardie, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Tanveer Sangha, Matthew Short, and Adam Zampa” comprise Australia’s final Champions Trophy 2025 team.

The 9th version of the ICC Champions Trophy, a cricket competition for the world’s top 8th One Day International teams, will take place in 2025.

The top 8th men’s national teams who are eligible from the “2023 Cricket World Cup” will compete in the tournament, which is being held by Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates from the “19th of February to the 9th of March 2025”. The current champions are Pakistan, who took first place in the 2017 tournament.
