Due to a problem with his back he had during the January Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India’s speed sensation Jasprit Bumrah will not be participating in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.

Jasprit Bumrah was replaced by Harshit Rana, who had taken (2) wickets in his opening (2) games in the current ODI series versus England. Jasprit Bumrah’s back issue has forced him to miss (2) ICC tournaments, the 1st of which being the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

Spinner Varun Chakaravarthy replaced Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was originally in the preliminary squad, in the Indian squad. “Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj, and Shivam Dube” were all selected as non-traveling alternates.

India Assign Group A

The 9th edition of the ICC Champions Trophy will begin on the 19th of February with host and defending champions Pakistan playing New Zealand in the opening match at Karachi’s National Stadium. Pakistan, who won the 2017 edition after beating India in the final, will host the 8th team competition.

Along with “Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Pakistan”, India has been assigned to “Group A” of the Champions Trophy 2025.

Prior to their awaited match against bitter rivals Pakistan on the twenty-third of Feb, India will play their 1st game against Bangladesh on the 20th of February. On the 2nd of March however, they will play New Zealand in their last group stage match.

India’s Champions Trophy squad are as follows: “KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Varun Chakravarthy, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and captain Rohit Sharma”.
