Indian Tourists Boycott Turkey And Azerbaijan Over Pakistan Support

Indian travelers are boycotting traveling countries that favored Pakistan in Pak-India conflict, majorly Turkey and Azerbaijan.
Rising tensions lead to travel changes:
The Pakistan and India conflict also affected tourism. Indian travel plans are reshaping due to the Pak-India war-like situation. Indian vacationers preferred Turkey and Azerbaijan for their affordability and scenic beauty. But now it is seeing a sharp drop in bookings. The reason is quite obvious as both countries publicly supported Pakistan during its recent conflict with India.

This support hasn’t gone unnoticed by Indian travelers. Two major travel platforms, MakeMyTrip and EaseMyTrip, have reported a dramatic rise in cancellations and a steep decline in new bookings for both destinations.
Travel bookings plummet:
MakeMyTrip highlighted a 60% drop in bookings to Turkey and Azerbaijan over the past week. Even more striking, cancellations have surged by 250% during the same period. These figures clearly show that Indian tourists are choosing not to travel to countries that they feel have taken a political stand against India.
EaseMyTrip echoed similar trends. CEO Rikant Pittie added that travelers are now choosing destinations like Georgia, Serbia, Greece, Thailand, and Vietnam instead of Turkey and Azerbaijan.
Travel platforms react swiftly:
Online travel portal ixigo took a bold step by suspending all flight and hotel bookings for Turkiye, Azerbaijan, and China. The company shared the news in a post on X. These actions show how global politics can influence business decisions.
Travel as a form of protest:
Founder and chairman of EaseMyTrip openly questioned whether it was right to continue supporting the economies of nations that openly support India’s rival. In his words, “When these nations openly support Pakistan, should we fuel their tourism and their economies?” His post struck a chord with many Indians online thus it fueled more calls to boycott travel to Turkey and Azerbaijan.
New travel hotspots emerge:
Indian travelers are now looking for other travel destinations. Georgia, Greece, Serbia, Thailand, and Vietnam are now emerging as the top alternatives. These countries offer affordable travel, beautiful landscapes, and cultural richness with a neutral political landscape.
