FBR Proposes Elimination Of Inland Revenue Officers’ Appointments

According to sources, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has suggested doing away with the nomination of Inland Revenue officers to review tribunals due to possible conflicts of interest.
In order to maintain fairness, reports claim that about 920) seats now occupied by Inland Revenue personnel in income tax appellate courts would be eliminated and replaced by retired officers.
The plan is presently being reviewed, and the relevant laws will be passed in order to put the modifications into effect. The selections of customs officers to customs review tribunals would not be impacted, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has made clear.
The ruling could affect inland revenue officials’ chances of getting promoted. Right now, (21 of the 52 IRS Grade 21) officials have been assigned to appellate courts.
FBR Work On Different Goals
