Khawaja Asif criticized PTI for misinterpreting the Balochistan Train Hijacking situation on social media.

Balochistan train hijacking incident:

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has criticized PTI for misrepresenting the recent hijacking of the Jaffar Express. He accused the party of distorting facts on social media for political gain. On Tuesday, the Jaffar Express was hijacked while traveling from Quetta to Peshawar. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) attacked the train. There were 440 passengers on the train. The terrorists opened fire and took hostages. Security forces launched an operation that lasted two days.

Security forces neutralize terrorists:

On Wednesday, ISPR Director General Lieutenant Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed the successful operation. The forces eliminated 33 terrorists at the attack site. Unfortunately, 21 passengers and four Frontier Corps personnel lost their lives. No hostages were harmed during the final phase of the rescue mission.

Khawaja Asif’s remarks on PTI’s role:

Asif strongly criticized the PTI for its response to the attack, accusing the party of spreading misleading information on social media and trying to mislead the people. He also criticized opposition leader Omar Ayub and reminded him of his family’s connection to past military takeovers. Asif blamed the PTI government for its past actions, accusing the former administration of relocating fighters from the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He stressed that acknowledging past mistakes was necessary for progress.

PTI’s stance on National issues:

He accused PTI of failing to acknowledge economic improvements and the military’s role in fighting terrorism. Asif displayed PTI’s social media posts targeting security forces. He quoted a PTI post that is misleading, “terrorists had released hostages 12 hours ago.”

Allegations of PTI’s support for BLA:

Khawaja Asif said that PTI has an alliance with the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). He, however, condemned PTI for overlooking its actions and focusing on other matters. He recalled, “Baloch leaders were promised amnesty but later executed.” “This wound has existed since the 1960s. Every time peace is restored, something disrupts it again.”

Security forces’ success against terrorism:

Asif praised the armed forces for their role in countering terrorism. He said that the operation tried to eliminate further unrest and successfully eliminated the terrorists. He emphasized national unity in the fight against terrorism. Asif revealed that the attackers separated passengers based on their provinces. It highlights the ethnic violence that has occurred in Balochistan over the years, particularly targeting people from Punjab.
