On Sunday 23rd of Feb 2025, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb acknowledged that the salaried class was heavily burdened by taxes and hinted that the government would offer them some relaxation.

The tax system has improved, he told the media, adding that the administration will consider lowering the tax load on the salaried class in the next budget. He said that the government will not permit any form of gambling in the real estate, saying, “There is also progress with the taxation on the real estate.”

He declared, “We will not permit gambling in the real estate industry since it is harmful to the economy. We are trying to help the building sector. The stock exchange is doing well, and the nation’s economy is now steady.”

Pakistanis Abroad Don’t Face Any Problems

According to the minister, the steadily rising global payments make it clear that Pakistanis living abroad have no issues with the system. “I have met Pakistanis abroad in Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and the US, and they are not irritated.”

In response to inquiries, Mr. Aurangzeb stated that “Although the policy rate has decreased, the currency remains steady. Our foundation is now stable and working toward sustainable growth.”

Whereas the finance minister noted that in an effort to get their opinions on the next budget, the administration has begun holding talks with various business associations. Positive economic data, such as an increase in remittance “senders and inflows” into Roshan Digital Accounts, were highlighted by the minister.

Increased Public-Private Sector Engagement

In order to reach sustainable economic growth, the finance minister has already recommended more cooperation between the public and private sectors. He underlined the stock market’s performance, which has hit a record high, while speaking at an event hosted by the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Furthermore he pointed out that changes made to the Federal Board of Revenue are helping to rebuild public confidence in the tax system. These changes were being closely monitored by PM Shehbaz to guarantee their execution. In order to relieve pressure on the exchequer, Mr. Aurangzeb recognized the value of expanding the tax base.
