2.7 million deaths

On Wednesday 12th of June 2024, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported the 4 main industries notably (tobacco, ultra-processed foods (UPFs), fossil fuels, and alcohol) for more than two million people are death in Europe each year, pointing them out of postponing public programs that could affect their financial standing. These “4 sectors kill more than 7,000 people in our region daily,” Hans Kluge, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Europe region, which includes Central Asia, remarked in a statement.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the combining of these industry sectors into a limited number of multinational corporations has given them substantial control over the political as well as juridical environments in which they run, along with the ability to interfere with public interest guidelines that may affect the profits they make.

Hans Kluge said that industry techniques included targeting weaker people using specific advertising techniques, misunderstanding consumers, and offering misleading statements about the advantages of their goods or environmental qualities.”These practices put at risk the last century’s public health advances and slow down countries from meeting their health objectives,” it warned.
