There is a serious flood issue in Farrukhabad Colony, which is close to Shahrada, Lahore.
According to details, the Ravi River floodwaters have flooded into residential neighborhoods, dipping houses and streets by “two to three” feet. Residents have quickly evacuated Farrukhabad due to the rising in floodwaters, moving their goods to safer locations, including as rooftops.
The Ravi River flood in Shahdara is beyond its normal capacity and running at an alarmingly high level of “215,000 cusecs”, according to reports. The flood is producing waves, signifying considerable water pressure and speed, according to advisories given by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The citizens and visitors of Farrukhabad have begun the process of mass evacuation in order to reach safer locations, and many are relocating to makeshift shelters.
Crowd Are Not Listening
Additionally, floods have reached nearby areas, highlighting the serious worries and forced relocations. Crowds have come to admire the Ravi Bridge despite the terrible situation, with many people occupied with shooting selfies and attempting to get closer to the flooding. Children are among the crowds, and they are not listening to the authorities.
The public has received many warnings from rescue teams and staff to stay away and follow safety instructions. The mosque networks and loudspeakers are making announcements. However, the public is not assisting the government.
Authorities Advise People
The Punjabi government has initiated a rescue effort in response to the Ravi River flood, working with the Pakistan Army, Rescue 1122, and the district administration. To aid impacted individuals and the flood-affected area, medical and assistance camps have been set up.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and are requesting that people avoid riverbanks in order to aid. They advise everyone to keep in mind that playing in floodwaters can be deadly and may slow down rescue efforts.
In order to lessen the effects of devastating flash floods, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif earlier underlined the urgent need to increase Pakistan’s water storage infrastructure. He also warned that these disasters are expected to recur in the years to come owing to climate change.
