Virgin Galactic has set its final spaceflight schedule after a two-year break.
On Saturday 8th of June 2024, preparing for its final journey, Virgin Galactic is suspending commercial operations for 2 years to improve its fleet and maybe generate a profit. According to an official, the (Galactic 07) mission will be scheduled to launch from the company’s facility at Spaceport, New Mexico, at “around 8:30 am Mountain Time (1430 GMT).”
A massive carrier aircraft lifts off from an airfield, climbs to a height of about fifty minutes, and then lets go of a spaceplane that flies super fast to the outer limits of space, where passengers may experience a temporary feeling of feeling weightless and take in the bending of the Earth. According to details, there will be 4 private astronauts along with 2 pilots on board. The identities of the other 3 will probably be made public later. “The first of them is Tuva Atasever, a Turkish space agency astronaut whose position was contracted with another space business, Axiom.:”
In the developing suborbital tourism sector, where Blue Origin, controlled by Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos, is the firm’s primary rival, this will be the 6th commercial journey for the company, which was created in 2004 by British industrialist Richard Branson. It will also represent the last journey of the company’s existing spacecraft, the VSS Unity. A pair of next-generation “Delta class” ships, which are already being built in Arizona, are expected to replace it; test flights are scheduled for 2025, and commercial operations begin in 2026.
Although the business finally attempts to turn a profit, its future is at risk. With losses of more than ($100 million) in the last two quarters, Virgin is currently burning through cash; as of the end of March, its reserves were ($867 million). At the end of the previous year, it also let go of 185 employees or 18% of its total staff. The stock now trades for (85 cents), a decrease from ($55) in 2021 the year Branson made headlines throughout the world by flying.

“Investors in Virgin Galactic should be prepared for holding a stock that generates almost no income over the next (18 to 30) months—provided all goes according to plan and the Delta program does not suffer any delays,” the Motley Fool stated in a message to investors this week. Launched on a tiny suborbital rocket, Blue Origin began operating flights in May following a nearly two-year break. However, an abnormality occurred during one of the 3 landing parachutes, which may cause a delay in the next trip
