The US General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, informed senators that the US military withheld bunker-buster bombs from the Isfahan nuclear site due to its extreme underground depth. CNN reported that Isfahan is so deep that even the US’ Massive Ordnance Penetrator would not reach it. Democratic Senator Chris Murphy said, “Some of Iran’s capabilities are so far underground that we can never reach them.”

U.S. intelligence estimates that nearly 60% of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile is stored there. However, the US used B-2 bunker-busters to destroy Fordow and Natanz and Isfahan was targeted only with submarine-launched Tomahawk missiles.
Trump’s threat:
At a White House press conference, Trump made clear that future strikes are on the table if Iran resumes weapons-grade uranium enrichment. While asking about any future attack on Iran, Trump said, “Sure. Without question. Absolutely.” It shows the US clear cut remarks on targeting Iran if it does not stop.
Trump expressed confidence that Iran would not pursue nuclear weaponry soon. He asserted that “they spent over a trillion dollars on nuclear, and they never got it together” and noting no materials had been moved from the targeted sites.
Trump claims credit for saving Khamenei’ life:
Trump on his Truth Social Media platform declared he had thwarted an earlier plan to assassinate Ayatollah Khamenei. He posted, “I knew EXACTLY where he was sheltered. I SAVED HIM FROM A VERY UGLY AND IGNOMINIOUS DEATH.”
Trump also expressed regret that Khamenei did not publicly express gratitude. He, however, stated that he does not have to say, ‘THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP!’” Trump also said he reversed plans to ease sanctions after Khamenei delivered a defiant speech.
Iran rejects future negotiations:
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denied any future negotiatory talks with the US on State television. He stressed, “No agreement, arrangement or conversation has been made to start new negotiations.”
