Recently, both countries were also involved in a war-like situation. The situation escalates and increases the tension over the Kashmir conflict. US President Donald Trump offered the US assistance in reducing the tension between both countries by resolving the Kashmir conflict.

Trump’s offer came shortly after Pakistan and India agreed to a ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border. The US played a key diplomatic role in making the ceasefire possible, with both countries acknowledging Washington’s influence in encouraging restraint.

Pakistan welcomes Trump’s offer:

Pakistan quickly welcomed Trump’s proposal. The Foreign Office (FO) expressed gratitude for the United States’ constructive role in supporting the ceasefire and said Islamabad was open to international efforts to resolve the Kashmir issue. In an official statement, the FO said, “Pakistan appreciates President Trump’s willingness to help resolve the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

Ceasefire achieved after intense diplomacy:

As per the news by the US officials, the US has had a long-term conversation between Pakistan and India diplomats. Both countries have agreed on a ceasefire deal. Trump took to his platform, Truth Social, to celebrate the outcome. He praised both India and Pakistan for making a “historic and heroic” decision. He said, “Millions of innocent people could have died. I’m proud the USA could help both nations avoid disaster.” Trump also showed his willingness to resolve the Kashmir issue.

A deep-rooted conflict:

Trump made it clear that the broader dispute over Kashmir ownership remains on his radar. His remark about working toward a Kashmir resolution signals a potential shift in US policy in the region. Trump previously described the Kashmir conflict as going on for “a thousand years.” In Trump’s words, “I am close to both India and Pakistan. They’ve had that fight for a thousand years, probably even longer.”

Building a bridge beyond borders:

Pakistan’s willingness towards Trump’s offer reflects stronger ties with the US. The FO stressed Pakistan’s efforts in promoting peace and expanding economic partnerships with the US. Trump’s offer serves as an opportunity for broader cooperation.
