‘Temporary Restriction’ On Meat And Poultry Exports Is Being Considered By The Pakistani Government.

On Thursday 23rd of October 2025, the Pakistani government is thinking of imposing a “temporary ban” on the export of meat and poultry.
According to Ministry of Production sources, the action is meant to ensure that the general public can afford to buy meat and poultry. They added that the cattle and agriculture industries have been badly impacted by recent floods, which has led to lower local output and unwarranted price increases on the domestic market.
The ministry pointed out that although exports to Middle Eastern nations are still going well, rising meat prices have also affected poultry pricing. Even though beef is presently sold at “Rs800 per kilogram”, mutton is currently offered for approximately “Rs2,500 and Rs3,000 per kilogram”, which is significantly more than the official figure of “Rs1,600”.
A temporary export prohibition, according to officials, might help stabilize local pricing and lower the cost of beef products for consumers across the country.
According Pakistani police, two people were previously taken into custody in Mosa Colony near the Railway crossing for reportedly delivering dead chickens to hotels, restaurants, and eateries throughout Karachi. The (2) suspect, “Anwar and Kamal”, were taken into custody by Gulberg police on suspicion of selling and providing dead chickens to food centers in the “F.B. Area, New Karachi, and numerous other places”.
The person being charged also provided (80 kg) of dead hens to the police. According to the authorities, the suspects are store owners who frequently purchased chickens that died while being transported by truck to stores throughout the city.
