The Arabian Sea cyclonic storm Shakti, which developed over the northeast Arabian Sea, is approaching the country’s southern shore and is currently “360 kilometers” south of Karachi.
Yesterday morning’s deep depression in the Arabian Sea grew into a cyclonic storm by evening, and it is expected to get considerably stronger over the course of the next day, reaching a serious cyclonic storm.
First Move Of Cyclone
“The system was centered on Friday evening around Latitude 21.7N and Longitude 66.8E, some 360 kilometers south of Karachi”, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Friday 3rd of October 2025.
It seems likely that the cyclone would first move west-northwest before shifting west-southwest and entering the central Arabian Sea.
In addition “Thar Parkar, Umer Kot, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad, Matiari, Shaheed Benazir Abad, Sanghar, Jamshoro, Hub, Lasbella, Awaran, and Kech” are among the districts in “Sindh and Balochistan” that are likely to experience “light to moderate wind-thunderstorms and rain” as a result of it. Karachi is also likely to see occasional rainfall.
3-Day Forecasting
The three-day forecasting for Karachi Division was for mainly overcast and muggy conditions with the possibility of irregular drizzle or light showers. “Saturday’s high temperatures are predicted to stay between (32 and 34) degrees Celsius, with Sunday’s lows easing somewhat to (31 to 33) degrees Celsius”.
- From (October 3rd to October 5th), squally winds with gusts of up to (55 km/h) are expected to continue to blow over the Sindh coast, causing sea conditions to remain unpleasant to severe.
- Gale-force winds of (65 to 75 km/h with gusts of up to 85 km/h) are expected to persist around the storm center until Saturday evening, after which they will intensify to (100 to 110 km/h with gusts of up to 125 km/h).
On the other hand, the middle north Arabian Sea is predicted to see extremely severe sea conditions from (October 3rd to October 6th). Because of the hazardous conditions, fishermen have been instructed to avoid going out to sea until October 5th.
Additionally, authorities have issued a warning that unstable buildings including (kacha homes, rooftops, electric poles, billboards, cars, and solar panels) could be damaged by windstorms and lightning.
