Sharah-e-Faisal In Karachi Is The Site Of A Tree-Cutting Petition Heard Before The SHC.

On Monday 20th of October 2025, a thorough response about the tree-cutting along Karachi’s Shara-e-Faisal is being presented to the Sindh High Court (SHC) today, the Director General of Parks told the court.
The court had ordered the DG-Parks to appear in person before the court on October 20th (today) during a prior hearing of the case. Additionally, the high court ordered provincial authorities to provide a thorough report on the tree-cutting along Shara-e-Faisal in Karachi.
A petition against the widespread tree-cutting on the city’s main route was being heard by a division bench of the SHC.
According to the government attorney, the written response about the tree-cutting will be presented during today’s court session. The bench postponed the case’s next hearing until December 2nd.
In the prior hearing, the prosecutor was directed by the court to give information about the number of trees felled over time, as well as the location and buyer of the timber. The bench also asked if there had been an auction of the timber and ordered the prosecutor to provide a detailed report.
The government counsel for Sindh contended during the hearings that fresh trees were being planted to replace the ones that had been felled. The court did, however, request particular information on the prices and procedures for selling the wood from previously felled trees.
A citizen’s petition accused the relevant authorities of breaking court orders and environmental rules. The petition named the “chief secretary of Sindh, the secretary of local government, and the secretary of the forest department” as respondents.
