Summary:

In early Tuesday, Russia hit back and targeted Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, and port city, Odesa.

Ukraine: Russia launched a “massive” drone attack on Tuesday. It targeted Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv and the southern port city of Odesa. The Ukrainian leader asks for more sanctions to be imposed on Russia.

Massive Drone Swarm Hits Kyiv and Odesa:

In Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported the assault began around 3 a.m. local time. He urged on telegram to stay in shelters. He revealed that a new batch of UAVs is flying to the capital. He confirmed that four people were wounded across at least seven districts.

Governor Oleg Kiper in Odesa confirmed at least one fatality and several injuries as residential buildings were also struck. Kiper said, “A 59‑year‑old man was killed. The enemy massively attacked Odesa with strike drones. There is damage to civilian infrastructure and fires.”

Maternity hospital evacuated:

In a Russian attack, a Ukrainian maternity hospital was also targeted. Kiper confirmed that “The Russians hit a maternity hospital, an emergency medical ward and residential buildings.” The hospital was on full alert, and emergency protocols ensured no women in labor were present during the strike. The international advocacy groups condemned the incident.

Ukraine demands urgent sanctions and arms support:

The head of the Ukrainian Presidential office declared in a telegram about Russia’s attacks and said, “Russia lies every day about its desire for peace and attacks people every day. Time to impose sanctions. Time to support Ukraine with weapons. Time to prove that democracy has power.” His statement demands urgent sanctions to be imposed on Russia. Moreover, Ukraine also asks for additional arms support.

Peace talks stall:

The US president, Donald Trump, started a peace negotiation in Turkey. However, the negotiation did not bring positive results. The only concession reached involved releasing seriously wounded, sick, or young prisoners of war.

Despite the exchange, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed further dialogue. He called the Russian delegation “empty heads” and described further talks as “pointless” without progress on ending the war.

Ukraine strikes back inside Russia:

Ukraine continues to launch counterstrikes deep into Russian territory. It targeted supply lines, armament factories, and military infrastructure. Moscow also restricted flights at Pulkovo Airport near St. Petersburg and at least 13 other airports overnight due to security concerns.
