According to sources, on Friday 26th of September 2025, the Punjab government approved a new medical entrance policy.

The Punjab Chief Minister (CM), Maryam Nawaz, presided over a conference on health sector reforms where important decisions relevant to the province’s medical and dentistry colleges were approved.

Candidates must pass the “MDCAT exam” in order to be admitted to government institutions, according to a new admission policy adopted by the cabinet for both public and private medical and dental schools. “The MDCAT fee for children of Pakistanis living abroad has been fixed at $10,000.”

According to the updated process, a candidate need to put in one-third of the tuition with the University of Health Sciences (UHS) as soon as their name appears on the merit list for a private medical school. Following the final merit list, students will pay the rest of the fees directly to the college, and UHS will send the collected fee to the appropriate college.

In order to accommodate the need for specialists, the meeting also determined that trainee physicians would be assigned to the proper departments of private medical colleges for specialization after finishing postgraduate training in private hospitals.

Further the 1st successful angioplasty at Sahiwal Cardiac Center was celebrated by CM Maryam Nawaz, who called it a regional milestone. She gave authorities instructions to guarantee the greatest amount of relief for cancer patients and urged Mayo Hospital to set up an open system for treating patients at its Ablation Center.

It was also decided to create medical blocks inside public universities rather than constructing new, independent medical colleges.
