On Wednesday, Poland claimed to use aircraft to destroy ‘hostile objects’ that came into its air territory amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

On social media, Poland’s Defence Minister, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, said, “Aircraft have used weapons against hostile objects. We are in constant contact with NATO command.”

Poland made the statement after Russia started a sudden invasion of Lviv, the southern city of Ukraine that is around 50 miles from the border. Poland is also a NATO member.

When Russia started an invasion, its drones and missiles also entered Poland’s territory. In its three-and-a-half-year war with Ukraine, no NATO member has shot down the Russian missiles or drones. It is the principle of the Western allies that attacking a NATO country is an attack on all.

Poland’s military condemned the unprecedented airspace violations. The operational command stated that dozens of drone-type objects were seen in the Polish territory. He also claimed to have downed some of them.

The operational command made a statement that said, “This is an act of aggression that has created a real threat to the safety of our citizens.” Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk also confirmed that certain weapons are used to attack hostile objects. He said on social media that “an operation related to multiple violations of Polish airspace is underway.”

Russia’s non-stop airspace violation:

The newly elected Polish Nationalist President Karol Nawrocki warned that the Russian President Vladimir Putin will target more countries after attacking Ukraine. On Tuesday, he told the news agency that “We do not trust Vladimir Putin’s good intentions. We believe that Vladimir Putin is also ready to invade other countries.”

Poland has always been a big supporter of Ukraine in its war with Russia. It also hosts over a million Ukrainian refugees. Warsaw also claimed that last month, Russian military drones entered Poland’s territory. He also informed that the drone hit the farmland in eastern Poland. It is called the incident ‘provocation.’

In 2023, Poland also claimed that the Russian drones’ entry into its territory was to attack Ukraine. Poland has repeatedly made such claims over the years.
