Pakistan's Mission to Send a Satellite to the Moon | ICUBE-Q

Pakistan’s first Moon mission, ICUBE-Q, will take off from China today. Pakistan is doing this mission with the cooperation of China. China will also bear the expenses of this entire mission; Pakistan has only incurred the costs of making the satellite. This mission of Pakistan will orbit the Moon for three to six months and obtain different images from the lunar surface. This will give the Pakistan Space Agency more information about the Moon and strengthen our space program.

Two optical cameras are installed in ICUBE-Q to help take pictures of the Moon’s surface. It took Pakistan two years to build this satellite. SUPARCO and the University of China worked together on this satellite. Since this mission is being sent in cooperation with China, it will likely reach completion as China has already sent such missions to the Moon and has a lot of experience. This mission is also linked with India’s Chandrayaan 3 mission. Still, there is no competition with it as Chandrayaan 3 landed on the south pole of the Moon for the first time in history, while ICUBE-Q only orbited the Moon. We will get pictures of experts saying that this mission is very good in terms of research, but it is not a big success at the national level because it is a small satellite that universities use for research.

It should be noted that only Pakistan has received permission to send this small satellite into space. Eight countries of the world are part of EPSCO, out of which only Pakistan has been permitted because Pakistan has been working on such projects before, due to which Pakistan has received special permission. Apart from Pakistan, EPSCO member countries include Bangladesh, Thailand, Peru, Iran, Mongolia, Turkey and China. It is an honour for Pakistan that only Pakistan among eight countries has been given this opportunity; it can be hoped that Pakistan will send an even bigger mission to the Moon in the future.
